For repairs deeper than two inches, apply and tamp U.S. Cold Patch in 1~2 inch lifts (layers). Add enough material so that tamping or tire rolling leaves a slight crown. If over time a patch settles below the road surface, clean the surface of the patch and add another lift, and compact. Return any unused material to the bag for later use.

U.S. Cold Patch is packaged in 50 lb. bags which contain approximately one-half cubic foot of material, enough to repair a pothole four square feet to a depth of one inch. If a bag of U.S. Cold Patch feels hard or has frozen, simply drop it flat on the ground as you would a bag of ice, and the material will break apart and be ready for immediate use.

U.S. Cold Patch can also be used as an overlay for areas that are beginning to crack or show signs of wear. Just apply a thin layer (1~2 inches) of material and compact. Be sure to sweep away any excess material from the repair area.

U.S. Cold Patch will repair a variety of asphalt defects:

Grade depressions or "birdbaths": fill the depression with material, compacting as you go, leaving a slight crown.

Raveling: cover any rough-textured surface with a one-inch overlay patch and compact.

Alligatoring (interconnecting cracks forming a series of blocks): sweep material into cracks with a broom, compact well, and repeat until the repaired area meets the surface of the road.

Cracks: fill with material and compact, leaving slight crown.
